What We Believe
THE BIBLE: We believe that the bible is the divine word of God. It is the written life instruction for His people. The bible is written by men and inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is our rule of faith, practice, and discipline.
Psalms 119:105 /138:2
FAMILY: We believe that before God established the church, He established the family. When God created
the first man and woman and united
them in holy matrimony this was the first family. God’s blue print for the family is for the husband and wife to produce righteous seed through a godly relationship where the children will learn love, respect, forgiveness, mercy, and relational skills.
Malachi 2:15 Ps.127:3-5 Ps. 128 Job 5:25
MARRIAGE: We believe marriage is a divine institution ordained by God and is honorable in all. It is the foundation of the family structure, and should never be taken or entered into lightly. When a man and a woman are joined by God, the two become one flesh, making it a lifelong commitment. The physical relationship of marriage is a reflection of the spiritual marriage between Christ and the Church. Genesis 2:23, Matthew 19:4-6 Ephesians 5:31-32
DIVORCE: We believe that divorce is not God’s option. It does not reflect his character or faithfulness. In the New Testament Jesus comprehensively answers the question on divorce and reinstates God’s original purpose for the marriage relationship. He states that divorce should not be sought except in the cause of fornication.
Malachi 2:16, Matthew 5:31,32/ 19:9 Mark 10:2
SEPARATION: We believe that there are situations that a couple may separate for a time. Such cases might include abuse, mental anguish, or other life threatening situations. However, those who separate should leave with the intention of receiving assistance that may foster reconciliation. Should one depart permanently, they should remain alone or be reconcile with their spouse.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11
HUSBAND ROLE: We believe the husband is the divine designated leader of the home. His leadership role is one of service to his family as he submits himself to Christ. He is called to be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, charity, and patience. His relationship with his wife should be a reflection of the love of Christ for the church. God expects him to provide, instruct, lead, and love.
Eph. 5:23-29, 1 Peter 3:7 Genesis 18:19 1 Timothy 5:8/3:2-5 Colossians 3:19
WIFE’S ROLE: The wife is the divine designated help meant for her husband. She is the expression of the feminine nature of God designed to fortify and support the masculine nature of God in her husband. She is called to submit to her husband, to be sober, loving, caring of her family and home, discreet, good, and obedient.
Gen. 2:18, Ephesians 5:22 Colossians 3:18 1 Peter 3:1-16 Titus 2:4-5
SEXUAL UNION: We believe that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage. It is the divine expression of physical love shown between the husband and the wife. This gift is given for pleasure, procreation, bonding, and bringing unity to the marriage relationship. It is a sacred gift to the marriage and should not be neglected or abused.
