Most people hide. Society demands that we act like a good person. We smile. We are courteous We do good acts. But, in most cases, it's a distraction. In secret, and in most cases, behind the mask is a totally different person.
It's easy to be fooled now-a-days We can friend people on Fakebook...I mean Facebook We get into relationships on our jobs, at the gym etc. only to disciver that people are phony. You see, our true character is only revealed during hardship and lost. It's during our trials that we get a true revelation.
We find out who really cares and who is real during out bad times. You see, for someone to show you who they really are, they must believe that you are vulnerable. The door must close behind you to outside help and security. Only then can they abuse and be apathetic unhindered by watchful eyes. Or, be a true friend and bring comfort. Really, really deep!
Trials and hardship also show us our flaws. Are we quick to accuse and complain? Do we get angry and blame the world? When things don't go our way do we curse and sware? Are we unforgiving and unmerciful? Hmmm. All these are signs of immaturity and a very bad and rebellious heart..
Trials and hardships are not meant to destroy us. They are designed to drive us from our hiding places and show us the truth; the truth about life, people, and our desperate need for Jesus!
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
