Food For Thought!
We should all have fear. It should be a normal part of our psyche. But, in our ignorance and deception, we fear the wrong things and wrong people! Hmmm. When I was a little boy my grandmother use to tell scary stories about the boogeyman. He was the un-dead creature that would appear under the bed or in the closet. Later in life, I saw very scary movies on TV and at the theater about monsters and vampires. In fact, I developed a taste for scary movies. Then, you hear awful stories about crime and murder in your neighborhood and around the world. Frightening stuff!
Yet, our Lord told us to, "Fear not."
You see, when we live according to this world, we are constantly and very subtly being programmed by Satan (the God of this world system and unsaved minds) to have a very false and deceptive psyche. We have been programmed with the wrong fear. We fear people and situations. We fear ghosts. We fear tomorrow. So, even when our Lord in his grace and mercy, speaks from eternity, we resist him. We choose demonic fear over faith, and sin, over righteousness.
We fornicate because we fear losing the temporary love and pleasure.
We lie because we fear consequences and people's perception of us.
We listen to ungodly gossip and submit to corrupt people because we fear their wrath or displeasure.
We refuse to walk in faith because we fear "it won't work out." We fear the wrong person!!!!!
We should have a holy fear of the Almighty: Jesus Christ!
He is the one that holds our lives in his hands. The world is in his mind and plays out as he allows. This is the honest and unadulterated truth! If we fear the right person, our fears of people and situations will dissipate. In our ignorance, and I have been there, I rebelled when he spoke through my wife. I didn't listen when he spoke through my employer. I even fail to act when he spoke in dreams.
God blesses us when we obey. We inherit curses when we disobey.
Remember, there are only two people in this world that pull our strings: God or Satan. There is no middle ground.
Who will you fear?
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10)
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12)
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)
"Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?" (Isaiah 2:22)
"The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened." (Proverbs 10:27)
