When my late wife became a homemaker, I lived like a king. Clothes ironed; home was kept immaculate; and breakfast, dinner, and lovemaking were all served on time. It's the ideal for marriage. Except, I had to shoulder the bills by myself.
She encouraged me. "Honey, your salary is not going to cover all the bills, you will have to trust God for the rest." You think I listened. Nooo! I failed my test of faith. Lammie overdrew his bank account trying to compensate. I worked at the bank. They would never bounce my check...but my failure to listen to the voice of God speaking through my wife caused financial burden and unnecessary debt.
In my ignorance, I rebelled against the voice of God, and he allowed me to suffer the consequences.
God is unlimited.
He is all-powerful.
He is my provider.
Yet, as a Christian, I suffered money issues and struggled financially. Most people are in this predicament, and, they question God.
As you know, the problem is never with the Source. The problem is connecting to the Source. The Source is abundant and ready. In fact, the Source exceeds our expectations.
Yea, but recipients are hardly ready for abundant blessings. True stuff!
All of the young guys, that I know, who labored with me in prayer meetings, Bible studies, revivals, street meetings, etc, they all turned from God after...after he blessed them!
Tears for me!
I love them!
The thing that should have elevated their relationship with God, became an idol of worship! Their money and success made them arrogant and prideful!
You see, they were still full of themselves when God began to pour the blessings and the flesh rose to the top...as usual. "Look at me the basketball player says; see how good I can shoot. Look at me says the preacher, see how good I can preach. Look at me, says the college graduate, I am intelligent and successful."
Success wants worship.
Worship belongs only to God.
The Promised Land can only be enjoyed by broken and humble people. They live to please and worship God, not themselves.
Now we see why Paul said that he embraced his trials and persecutions. When he was weak, he was most strong.
"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Our humility and childlike faith are where all our power lay. We must let that always be our foundation. Like a friend told me, "Lambert, I don't fear failure, I fear success. I have seen how it has destroyed so many people."
This is never to endorse poverty or monetary mismanagement and lack of wisdom which is usually the culprit of our woes. However, whatever state we find ourselves in, we must learn to trust God. Remember, this is his world. He makes everything beautiful in his time!
The key to being solvent and abundant is putting God first. Always! He has promised to take care of the rest...if we simply put him first in our lives.
Just put him first!
Yea, stop worrying! Stop agonizing! He gat this! He wants to break and mature you...so that you can endure and enjoy the blessing! He doesn't want you to chock!
So, you don't have a money problem. You don't; or a relationship problem. The problem is always: faith. Faith to humbly listen and obey when he gives wisdom and directives. By the way, he is always talking, you just need to get rid of pride, and you will hear him very clearly.
The money problem will be resolved. The relationship problem will be resolved. You need faith to simply wait on your turn as God works on character issues. Yea, those very asinine pride issues that turn blessings into curses.
Faith silences the voices of worry and insecurity. Faith fosters patience, and, as our Lord says, in your patience possess ye your soul. His time...is the best! Yea, money isn't the issue. Never is!
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
"Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (Psalms 37:3-4)
"Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:38)
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." (Malachi 3:10)
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
"For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it." (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
