Food For Thought!
After almost seven years, I'm still waiting on a wife. When Kim, my late wife passed, I took it real hard; twenty-seven years of a good marriage made it hard to let go. But , God was most gracious. He healed my heart and I found myself back in the saddle looking, better, waiting on…a wife.
I have learned a lot. It's certainly very different from 1985 when I got married. People are different. They are crafty, adept, and very cunning at hiding their true motives.
And, patience, yes patience, is your most trusted ally. Wait! Aah say….wait! I have learned that you do possess your soul…if you are patient.
At the beginning of this process, my anxiousness and naivety led me to make numerous mistakes So, so many knives are disguised as wives and I allowed my feelings to get the best of me. Sight and sound have also tricked me i.e. listening to what they say rather than watching what they do.
As a result... regret and heartache dogged my trail and tried to apprehend me every step of the way. But, with patience and trust in God, I survived. I escaped! Looking back with 20/20 vision, thank God…I didn't get married!
Now, I am much more patient. I am sensitive (not fault-finding but you do pick up on things much more quickly when you spirit is quiet and patient). I don't jump to conclusions. I keep my emotions and flesh in check. I don't get ahead of myself and I allow the Holy 'spirit to lead and reveal the truth. I learned:
1. It's better to wait long rather than marry wrong. 2. Never trade my singleness for misery. It's not a good trade. 3. Having peace is a thousand times…better than getting piece! 4. Don’t marry someone because they make you feel good…marry someone because they are good.
Patience is the maturity of faith as we simply let go and let God. He always knows best, and if we give self a rest, abandon self, then the divine is able to operate without hindrance, bringing our miracle to fruition. God is still able to do exceeding abundantly more than we can ask or think…if we simply have patience. He makes everything beautiful in his time!
"Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him…" (Psalms 37:3-7) "Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." (James 5:10-11)
