"For the vision is yet for an appointed time.” (Habakkuk 2:3)
I think that all men (and women) are born with impatience; an intrinsic desire to have things done our way and now! We want our wives and husbands to change and change quickly to satisfy our needs.
This nullifies God plans for obedience, maturity and humility. So often God teaches us patience when it seems the victory is out of sight or far away.
We must learn to sit and allow him to make character adjustments, first in us, then in our mates.
For those who are waiting, the greatest assault is Satan’s darts of fear, doubt, and unbelief.
“Your husband will never quit his adulterous ways,”
he tells the wife.
“Your wife will always be defiant and controlling,”
he tells the husband.
At this point, many spouses unwittingly throw down their shields of faith and walk away from the marriage battle.
However, God wants us to wait. The battle is the Lord’s and He will never let us down.
This reminds me of a friend who was experiencing problems with his wife. She had become rebellious and promiscuous. He was tempted many times to pack his bag and leave.
In fact, on several occasions he had packed and was leaving only to hear the Spirit of God says,
“If you wait, I will bring peace and order to your home.”
In obedience, he trusted God and today he rejoices in the Promise Land. His wife is now a beautiful Christian woman.
The wait brought God’s greatest blessing...
Our Father, We ask for patience today. Fill our cups and make them to run over. Let it not stop in our marriage, but with the children, our places of employment, our community, and ministry. Thank you Jesus!
